Abstract
Variations in the photoluminescence (PL) spectra from porous silica gel containing the rhodamine and/or the fluorescein were evaluated before and after the exposure in the vapors of formaldehyde (HCHO), toluene (C/sub 6/H/sub 5/CH/sub 3/) and acetic acid (CH/sub 3/COOH). The organic luminous pigments contained porous silica are suggested to be useful fluorescent sensor materials for detecting the volatile organic carbons (VOC), such as formaldehyde, toluene and acetic acid.
