Abstract :
This paper discusses a novel topology and a new control method of unified power quality controller (UPQC), in which the conventional UPQC was divided into a voltage compensation section and a current compensation section respectively. The voltage compensation comprises a voltage source inverter connected to the power grid in series by a single-phase boost transformer. While the current compensation employs a three-phase switched capacitor connected to the power grid in parallel. In this topology, the volume and total costs of UPQC can be effectively reduced. The scheme has been proved to work by the simulation of Matlab and also have good control effect.
