Abstract
This paper illustrates a novel system for osteosarcoma segmentation and 3D reconstruction which is useful for doctors to make an optimal treatment plan. A reasonable architecture is designed by integrating different functional modules. Segmentation and 3D reconstruction are critical modules among them. This system employs an information fusion procedure in segmentation and the marching cubes algorithm in 3D reconstruction. The system provides doctors with the results of a segmented tumor and a 3D visualization of it. A friendly interactive interface is provided for doctors, making it easy for them to use the system. The realization of the system is supported by three open-source software toolkits: VTK, ITK, FLTK which are cross-platform and freely available.
