Abstract :
The growth of wind power has brought a new form of generation equipment into the power grid that has short-circuit characteristics different than synchronous generators. Although these characteristics are unconventional, the magnitude of short-circuit current produced by the various types of wind turbine generators is typically small relative to conventional synchronous generators in the grid. This is particularly true for doubly-fed (Type 3) and full-conversion (Type 4) generators.
