  • Abstract
By analyzing the characteristics of remote sensing images and current algorithms of edge detection, this paper presents an improved edge detection algorithm of remote sensing images, which is based on fuzzy logic theory and the conventional Pal-King algorithm. We redesign the membership function, modify the method of fuzzy enhancement, and use an edge evaluation criterion to control the iterative procedure automatically. Experimental results show that this algorithm is superior to the others in edge detection of remote sensing images, and is very useful in the processing of multi-temporal and/or multi-source satellite image analyses. It is an algorithm with high feasibility and effectivity.
