Abstract :
In this paper, a periodic structure for absorbing electromagnetic wave is presented and its absorption performance examined. The proposed absorber is a planar resonant-type structure based on the topology of a Salisbury screen, and a lossy periodic surface is used for enhancing the absorption performance. The proposed structure has a superior absorption characteristic compared to conventional absorbers of a comparable size. The measured results of the absorber, which show a broadband reflectivity response with a fractional bandwidth of approximately 76% below -10 dB, are presented. Also, the calculated and measured results of the absorbing structure for 1.8 GHz band application are presented.
