Abstract :
Aiming at the shortcomings of Internet and NGI and MPLS, Single physical User-data transfer Platform Architecture Network is proposed to emerge existing separated three types of networks. Ethernet-like Physical Frame Timeslot Switching (EPFTS) is the key technique in Single physical User-data transfer Platform Architecture Network. In this paper we propose a parallel switching scheme for implementing EPFTS. Its main idea is that every processing phases of the entire switching process (e.g. storing, scheduling, transmitting, lookup switching table, etc) are concurrent; they can process the different segments of an EPF at the same time. The experimental results show that the parallel switching scheme can improve the switching performance greatly when the traffic load is heavy in larger size switch.
