Abstract :
A real-time Chinese sentence recognition system, CHISER, which consists of two parallel units (signal processing and symbolic processing) is described. The reasoning strategy presented, segmental left-to-right, can effectively control the backward propagation of errors in symbolic processing. Not only the whole sentence, but also any subsentences of an input sentence can be recognized. Experiments show that a 98% correct rate of sentence recognition is obtained
