Abstract
Experimental results on indoor microwave data communication using differential phase shift keying (DPSK) to implement wireless in-building network (WIN) systems are presented. The unique characteristics of this wireless medium are reported, with emphasis on multipath problems and spasmodic links of the radio channel which distinguishes WIN from wired LAN media. Experiments measuring the bit error rate (BER) performance of the system in a laboratory are presented. `Dead zones´ in the laboratory are investigated by sending a pulse from an amplitude shift keying (ASK) transmitter and viewing the received signal on the ASK receiver. Feedforward automatic gain control, together with a simple antenna positioning topology, is proposed for implementation of the complete wireless LAN system
