Abstract :
2-D Fourier analyses are presented of coded video sequences using block matching motion compensation, intraframe and interframe discrete cosine transform (DCT) coding algorithms. In intraframe and interframe DCT coding, MPEG intraframe and interframe quantization matrices are employed as well as other variations. By examining the Fourier spectra of reconstructed video images, compared with those of the originals, different error patterns are identified and presented in the Fourier domain. The Fourier analysis also helps in searching for methods to improve coded video picture quality and alternative video coding algorithms
