Abstract
The author addresses the need for computer-aided test generation software that is highly flexible and at the same time convenient to use. A test generator named ATG (And Test Generator), which uses workstation technology and a novel software architecture to meet both objectives, is presented as a solution. ATG combines open software architecture, interpretive metalanguage for code generation, and scripts for tests and events that can be altered interactively during program specification. It is concluded that this combination results in program generation software that achieves its objectives in terms of convenience and flexibility
