Abstract :
This paper describes the trials and tribulations experienced by electric utility planners when using a spatial load forecast for the first time to develop electric distribution plans for new or upgraded feeders, power transformers, and substations. INSITE by Quanta was the spatial load forecasting program that was used, based on MS Excel 2003. Along the way to developing the spatial load forecast, much was learned by the planners about land use data, load data, and spatial load forecasting. Documenting and sharing this information can benefit other planners who are embarking on using spatial load forecasting to develop electric distribution plans.
