Abstract :
E-business has reached every aspects of the publishing market since the American Amazon Online Bookstore came into being in 1995. Traditional bookstore entity business model is suffering an unprecedented challenge by the impact of e-bookstores. At the same time, the change in reading style is impacting the publication of traditional paper-based books. According to the industry evolution theory, the book retail industry evolution belongs to the Intermediating Evolution. Under this trend of development, it is quite necessary for the State-owned Xinhua Bookstore, which acts as the top leader in the national bookstores, to develop e-business. This paper exerts the industry evolution theory from the life-cycle view of industries, explains the concept and classifications of e-bookstore, analyzes the advantage and weekness of state-owned Xinhua bookstores implementation of e-business, and puts forwards the suggestions about e-business applied to the state-owned Xinhua Bookstores.
