Abstract :
If the induction motor voltage is high enough, it is possible to detect insulation degradation by means of partial discharge monitoring before a stator fault occurs. By contrast, in low voltage induction motors, the on-line stator fault diagnosis relies on the detection of inter-turn short circuits. This paper presents and analyses some of these techniques. Diagnostic techniques based on negative-sequence current, sequence impedances and current signature analysis are described.
