Abstract :
An approach to immediate and accurate discrimination between speech and baseband data signals for achieving effective transmission of baseband data during silences in a telephone conversation, is described. The method is based on the use of control words delimiting each signal to be multiplexed. Guidelines for choosing such control words are provided and suitable techniques for solving any transparency problems during the signal transmission are proposed
