Abstract :
This paper presents the receiver design of a passband transmitted reference pulse cluster (TRPC) ultra-wideband (UWB) communication system and analyzes its bit error probability (BEP) in the presence of phase noise inherent in local oscillators. Based on a unified model of phase noisy oscillators, a theoretical BEP expression is obtained to evaluate the impact of phase noise on the BEP performance of TRPC-UWB communications in dense multipath channels. Semi-analytical results are also presented and discussed under the realistic IEEE 802.15.4a channel models.
