Abstract
This paper investigates the start up behaviour of a three phase induction motor under single phase inverter supply as well as the transient associated with switching from starting to running capacitor. The static phase converters applied to a three phase induction motor supply have been assessed and a phase converter with two capacitors has been adopted for the analysis. Transient patterns of the torque, line current and converter capacitor voltage during starting the motor from a variable frequency source with constant V/F strategy have been considered for sinusoidal wave input voltages.
