The average forest resource in China is scarce and the structure of forest does not meet requirements, thus there is larger and larger gap between fasting growing demand and relatively steady supply. According to the prediction, the shortage of timber will be enlarged during 2011–2020. Although the measures taken by China will help to solve the problem to some extent, dependence on foreign forest resources to solve the shortage of timber resources is not feasible. Improving wood supply capacity will be brought by comprehensive utilization of forest resources by high-tech and effective management.
