Abstract :
A new nonlinear robust control strategy for a hydro turbine governor is proposed based on differential geometry theory and the nonlinear robust control principle. The proposed control strategy improves system robustness to exogenous disturbances on the system in the sense of L/sub 2/-gain. Furthermore, a real controller that employs the suggested control strategy has been built for a dynamic experiment. The experimental results on a simple power system show clearly that the suggested control strategy can enhance transient stability of power systems more effectively than traditional PID controllers.
