  • Abstract
To maximise the benefits of distributed generators, utilities must start to actively operate and manage their networks. One solution, proposed in the paper, allows DG to operate as an isolated island when the utility network fails. The approach would ensure "important" customers were not affected by a failure of the utility supply, if appropriate levels of DG were operating within the island.
