Abstract :
This paper investigates the load frequency control problem for a multi area power system taking into consideration system parameter uncertainties. The paper proposes a nonlinear control scheme for load frequency control (LFC) of interconnected power systems. The control scheme is designed using Lyapunov theory. The proposed control scheme is divided into a linear term and a nonlinear term. There is a local robust load frequency controller for each control area in the power system. The simulation studies are carried out for a two area interconnected power system for simplicity and without loss of generality. The simulation results indicate that the proposed control scheme works well even in the presence of generation-rate constraints.
