Abstract
Lots of tamper-detection techniques for binary/halftone images were proposed. However, they are deficient because they only can detect if the image is tampered with but cannot locate the alternation. In this paper, a new block-based authentication watermarking scheme for binary/halftone images is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the original image is divided into non-overlapping blocks, and the feature value for each block is generated. Then the authentication information, the product of the feature value and the corresponding watermark by an XOR operation, is embedded in each original block. According to experimental results, the proposed scheme can prove the ownership and effectively detect random attack and counterfeiting attack while keeping the quality of the original image at the same time.
