Abstract :
We evaluate a group mobility model based on bird flocking in comparison with other existing group mobility models for mobile ad hoc networks in this paper. This group mobility model is based on the behavior of a flock of birds which is interpreted by the basic laws of swarming namely cohesion, separation and alignment. While measuring the performance of this group mobility model using AODV routing protocol, the metrics such as average degree of spatial dependence and link duration are proved to be better than that of the existing group mobility models such as RPGM (Reference Point Group mobility model), Nomadic Community model and Pursue mobility model and the Random Waypoint model.
