Abstract :
In this paper, a novel ultra wideband (UWB) Vee dipole antenna with dual linear orthogonal polarization is introduced. The antenna consists of a 4-arm Vee dipole antenna with a novel arm shape fed by two coaxial cables with UWB baluns. The antenna occupies a volume of (0.44 λL × 0.44 λL × 0.44 λL) without the coaxial balun. The boresight gain of the antenna reaches 12 dB with the cross polarization level of less than 30 dB and back lobe level of about 12 dB. The effect of including ground plane and director elements on the performance of this antenna is studied. The preliminary results of this study show that this antenna can be a good candidate medical imaging and as a feed for wideband reflector antennas such as in the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) project.
