Abstract :
In this paper, design analysis of an extended continuous Class F harmonic tuned solid state power amplifier is presented. In this amplifier, the output nonlinear voltage and current are wave-shaped in proper phase, using multi-harmonic terminations. Unlike conventional designs at low power, the present analysis aims to explore a continuous design space at high power, to operate the commercially available device, within its practical limits of drain voltage excursion. This methodology is verified experimentally by fabricating a high power (600 W), high DC-to-RF drain conversion efficiency (70%) solid-state amplifier, operating at 650 MHz.
