Abstract :
Radio over Fiber (RoF) can be considered as the most suitable and cost-effective solution providing a high performance for data transmission in the Gbit/s range. The system consists of a central station (CS) sharing the complexity of generation, modulation, and coding between multiple users. The simple base station (BS) contains an optoelectrical transceiver, amplifier and antenna. It is connected by single mode fiber to the central station. In this paper, the possibility of reducing the complexity of the 60 GHz carrier generation system in the CS to optimize the overall system performance was investigated. The influence of the residual carrier after the carrier generation in terms of system response and phase noise is measured, and the system setup is optimized.
