Abstract :
This paper presents an improved spherical antenna arrays based on icosahedron for phase mode processing. In this topology, the electrical environment of all elements is almost identical in the case of the excitation of any phase mode. This feature is useful for three-dimensional beam scanning and for minimizing and compensating the effects of mutual coupling. The use of directional elements on this array for wideband applications is discussed
