Abstract :
The present paper proposes a compact representation for the transmission line models based on modal transformation. The distributed parameter TL model present at the majority of the electromagnetic transient programs is taken into account. The proposed model takes advantage of the similarities between non-homopolar modes and applies orthogonal vectors to manipulate the state variables in modal domain. The proposed method is applied to a single-circuit three-phase line represented through the distributed parameter model (EMTP). The resources employed promote a reduction both of the number of operations by iteration and of the allocation of states, optimizing the procedure and increasing the processing speed of simulation.
