Abstract :
This paper describes a study of streamer inception in mineral oil under ac voltage conditions with rod or point electrodes. Positive and negative streamer inception frequencies versus voltage have been investigated in gaps up to 40 cm with different concentrations of cellulose particles. Streamer inception is determined by the field at the rod extremity. Initiation fields decrease with increasing rod radii and when cellulose particles are added
