Abstract :
This paper presents an array composed of four SIFAs (strip inverted F antennas) located above a finite-sized square EBG reflector consisting of N2 mushroom-like patch elements. Analysis reveals that, when a voltage source is applied to terminal F-x and the remaining terminals (F+x, F+y , F-y) are left open-circuited, the EBG-SIFA array radiates a beam tilted in the negative x-direction. It is also revealed that the HPBW (half-power beam width) is a function of the number of patches N2. As N2 increases, the HPBW becomes narrower. Further investigation shows that the EBG-SIFA has a 4.2% bandwidth for a VSAVR = 2 criterion
