Abstract :
There are some shortages in the method of angle of arrival (AOA) estimation using rotating directional antenna, such as low precision, low stability and high correlation with pattern beamwidth. This paper presents a new method to estimate AOA using double patterns with partial overlapping. The method is verified by simulation in the software called Wireless Insite with different test scenarios. Compared with the conventional method of AOA estimation, the simulation results show that the proposed method can obtain high precision in AOA estimation, great noise restrain capacity in receive signal strength(RSS) estimation and low correlation of AOA estimation with pattern beamwidth.
