Integrated resource planning at a distribution company level-a case study

The current paper describes the process and results of a case study of long-term integrated resource planning and demand side management (IRP/DSM) at the electricity distribution company level in Egypt. The case study starts with a listing of possible IRP objectives, followed by preparation of a "baseline" demand forecast, supply-side planning, demand side planning, plan integration, and finally quantitative and qualitative comparisons between the candidate integrated plans, resulting in the determination of the preferred IRP plan to be recommended for implementation by the distribution company.
