Abstract :
Smart Energy Home area Network (HAN) and Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) technologies have recently been the focus of rapid advancement and significant investment by both utilities and third parties. HAN will have ESI/HAN gateway along with utility-owned HAN devices and customer-owned HAN devices. Remote access to HAN devices is required for either customer at remote site, or service providers (utility or vendor), which must be done securely. In this paper, we propose lightweight and effective entity authentication mechanism for remote access to HAN networks that allows ESI as a gatekeeper. We have conducted security analysis as well as formal verification of our proposed scheme.
