Abstract :
A time-octave representation derived from Capon´s filters is proposed. A Capon estimator which provides time-frequency images adapted for a post-treatment is linked with an optimal resolution for the analyzed signal, and a time-octave representation is adapted to acoustic interpretation. After presenting the method and showing the link with wavelet transforms, the authors discuss some academic examples and analyze real impulse responses of concert halls
