Abstract :
A method for analyzing and understanding time-frequency representations is introduced. The method is based on a nonstationary correlation function. Using this function and a specified estimation method, a Wiener-Knitchine-type spectral density for time-varying signals is defined. This spectral density provides many time-frequency representations and allows simple intuitive understanding of their properties
