Abstract
In cellular-based wireless networks, cellular phone location determination can be realized by using the hyperbolic positioning technique based on the stationary signal-strength- difference (SSSD) measurements. The location accuracy is limited due to SSSD measurement error and detection error in the reference distance between the cellular phone and the base transceiver stations (BTSs). To mitigate location error, a residual method is discussed in this paper. By conducting the field trial in a commercial cellular network, the results show that the discussed method can provide more accurate location determination.
