Abstract :
A 10 Gb/s limiting amplifier for fiber-optic transmission system is realized in a 0.18 μm CMOS technology, the whole circuit consists of an input-buffer network, four gain cells, and a output buffer for driving 50 Ω transmission lines and offset compensation for offset cancellation. This limiting amplifier allows an input dynamic is rang of 32 dB (20mV-800 mV) and provides a constant output voltage swing (800 mVpp), the power dissipation is 99 mW with the supply voltage of 3.3 V, the chip area is 0.8×1.3 mm2.
