Abstract
In this paper, a joint thinned array and weighting design method to reduce array radiation pattern sidelobe level based L1 norm constraint is proposed. Considering that the radiation pattern of thinned array is sensitive to weighting, we joint design the thinned array and its weighting. The proposed method exploits the feature of L1 norm constraint, and attains a better array radiation pattern than conventional method. Finally, a comparison is made between the results of the conventional method and the proposed method, and the proposed method is shown to be achieving lower sidelobe level without increasing half power beamwidth (HPBW).
