Abstract :
Applications of traveling-wave laser amplifiers in subcarrier multiplexed (SCM) lightwave systems for the distribution of multiple channels of FM video signals are described. The experimental carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) per channel compares well with a general analysis for an SCM system employing N traveling-wave laser amplifier stages. Other important design system considerations associated with using traveling-wave laser amplifiers are discussed
