Abstract
Ocean observation has of great importance for ocean makes a big difference to the quality of human´s life. Ocean buoy is the core of ocean observation. In this paper, we propose a new method based on the principle of electromagnetic induction coupling to realize contactless power feeding for underwater sensors through mooring cable. The designed buoy system can change the number of sensors flexibly thanks to feedback loop. The feedback loop can keep voltage on mooring cable to a certain value even if the number of sensors changed. We have experimentally confirmed that this kind of method can provide sufficient power to underwater sensors. Due to the design of induction coupler, installation of underwater sensors becomes much easier. It can be expected that the proposed system can help us realize real-time monitoring underwater sensor system.
