The South-North Water Diversion Project (SNWT) is a complex giant system and will face various risks during project operation. This article based on the risk conduction theory, from risk conduction´s essential factors of the SNWT´s, like risk source, risk characterization, risk carrier, risk conduction path and so on, elaborates conduction mechanism of system risk of the SNWT in detail, discovers the way how the project risk, the hydrology risk, the ecological environment risk and the economic risk transmit to the social risk, and provides the theoretical support by establishing effective risk management to the SNWT´s operation for the next step.
