Abstract :
Normalizing the soft output of SOVA is commonly used to improve the performance of SOVA. Normalization based on the fixed sealing factor is a simple and effective strategy. In this paper, we investigate the applicability of the fixed scaling factor to the BR-SOVA (SOVA proposed by Battail). In the proposed scheme, the soft output of BR-SOVA is normalized by the fixed scaling factor. The performance of proposed techniques is studied through simulation. The simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme results in improvement in performance.
