Abstract
Given the importance being placed on research regarding climate change, the commitments in relation to actions aimed at mitigating and adapting in order to face the consequences of this phenomenon, and also the regulatory framework that should be implemented by countries, emerge energy alternatives such as renewables. In this regard and recognizing the potential which Colombia has in relation to energy sources, this study aims to analyze the existing policies in the country in order to determine whether they are sufficient to ensure adequate promotion and development of renewable energies especially in Colombian energy sector, and the barriers that exist in these processes.
