  • Abstract
    This joint paper reviews environmental impacts of deep sea observatories and examines the international law applicable to Marine Scientific Research (“MSR”) by such structures in waters outside of territorial seas. These waters include the Exclusive Economic Zone (“EEZ”), the outer continental shelf, and the high seas.
