Abstract :
Most of the countries have given emphasis to get rid of “Energy Crisis”. Bangladesh is not excluded from that. Since we could not properly eradicate the problem, we are suffering from serious load shedding. The city dwellers use IPS as an instant solution without knowing the economic and environmental effects in the long run. Green energy could be a suitable replacement of IPS to avoid the unexpected drawbacks of IPS. In this paper, the long term economical and environmental effects of an IPS compared to PV system have been analyzed. Here, only the PV system has been considered instead of other renewable energy sources, since it is cost effective and abundant in Bangladesh. For the cost analysis of IPS and PV systems data have been taken form a renowned PV modules and IPS manufacturing retailing company. It is found that PV energy may be attractive to the city dwellers, if taken for long run solution for energy crisis.
