Abstract :
This work introduces the concept and advantages of single chip radio, a highly integrated and novel radio systems. The System-on-Chip (SoC) design methodology is suggested to satisfy strict requirements on power consumption, module cost, chip size and reliability in wireless applications such as WSN, Bluetooth, WLAN and so on. Integrate the whole wireless transceiver system into one single chip can greatly minimize its size and decrease manufacturing costs. The paper presents architecture in single chip radio system and several important components in circuit implementation, such as low noise amplifier (LNA), power amplifier (PA), mixer and micro-strip antenna. Finally, the development trends and challenges of single chip radio are also discussed.
