Abstract :
Gyroscopes are used in the navigation system of Launch Vehicles for estimating its instantaneous position on the trajectory path during flight. Similar low cost gyroscope devices can be used in sounding rockets also for estimating their spin rate, attitude etc. This paper explains the algorithm to extract angular rate over SPI interface from ADXRS450, which is a MEMS based gyroscope operating on resonator gyroscope principle. The sensor digital output will give the error free data even in noisy conditions. PIC microcontroller is used to read the data from the sensor and send to checkout. LabVIEW software running on the computer will extract and display the data from the serial port at real time.
