Abstract :
Fiber optic Bragg gratings have made possible an array of structural monitoring prospects. This includes: multiplexed sensing, short and long gauge length sensing, and distributed sensing. An overview is provided of each of these sensing modalities-with particular reference to applications in the construction and aerospace fields. In addition, the advances and prospects of demodulation of these sensors by means of optoelectronic quantum well microchips is also presented
