Abstract
Electromagnetic compatibility has become extremely important within the automotive industry as vehicle electrical complexity has mushroomed to include many safety-critical systems. Although the technique is widely used by manufacturers to ensure electromagnetic immunity, it is costly and time consuming, and so automotive electrical system supplies are increasingly turning to system-level susceptibility testing to ensure quality products. In this way their components immunity to external radio frequency interference can be increased without the risks of either rendering the system uncompetitive on price, or of failing the vehicle manufacturer´s whole-vehicle sign-off test. The paper discusses a continuing development program to improve system-level testing based bulk current injection, and aims to reduce test time and increase accuracy by fully automating susceptibility tests wherever possible
