Abstract
To avoid various constraints for solving aperture problem in traditional optical flow calculation, an approach to computation of the optical flow field for color image sequences is proposed based on HSI color model. By applying the three color components H, S, I to optical flow constraint equations, the extensive optical information provided by color images is taken fully advantage of, and the equations of ill-posed problem are turned into posed one. Moreover, a weighted matrix is introduced and the weights of the solution of three components can be determined with the characteristics of the image. So the vector field of optical flow is obtained. The experimental results have shown that the proposed method is superior to the traditional optical flow calculating methods.
